Hey Reader, Do you think about money? I do. A lot. But it might not be in the same way you do. So I wanted to share some of my thoughts about money. Not just making money… but the way we think about it. If money is tight, it can change how we approach various situations, but before you make any money-related decisions, I want you to stop and ask this question: How would I approach this if I didn’t need the money? It’s a powerful question. Because the minute we feel like we need the money, we can start justifying all kinds of bad decisions. We discount to get the job. And in the moment, it can feel justified because money feels urgent. But that urgency gets expensive. Some of my clients don’t technically need to work to support their household financially. And interestingly, those clients are often much clearer on what their time, expertise, and energy are worth. They tend to value their time, expertise, and energy more. They’re less likely to say yes to work that isn’t worth it. They’re not thinking, I need this money, so I should take whatever I can get. They’re thinking, If I’m going to do this work, it needs to be worthwhile. That's the shift. Because when you stop making decisions from panic, you make better decisions about pricing, boundaries, and where your energy goes. Another thing I’ve learned is that when you’re constantly stressed about money, it becomes very hard to do the kind of thinking that actually grows a business. You can’t think strategically when your brain is busy putting out financial fires. Sometimes the most important thing you can do is get honest about this and ask: What actually brings revenue into my business right now? Then focus there first. Not on busywork. And one more shift that has helped me a lot: When an unexpected expense comes up, instead of asking myself: I ask: That question changes everything. It moves you out of fear and into problem-solving. If money has felt heavier than usual lately, this is your reminder: The way you think about money affects the way you price. Sometimes the shift starts with a better question.
